CHAPMANVILLE — The Coal River Model Railroad Club, along with the Town of Chapmanville, will host their Second Annual Model Train Show this weekend at the Chapmanville Community Center.
Model train enthusiasts can see an 8 by 18 foot long operating HO layout and 50 tables of displays for show, buy and trade.
The free to attend event will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and from 1-6 p.m. Sunday.
“There will be model trains of all scales — O, H0, S, N and G,” said Jim Chaney with the Coal River Model Railroad Club. “There will be a few toys there and railroad memorabilia. We’ll have some hands on things for kids to play with.”
Chaney said the operating models will have scenes and items recognizable from the area.
“We had a model coal processing plant, similar to the one at Hobet,” said Chaney. “We have a grain elevator and a couple of small towns.”
Chaney said other operating layouts will include a 4x8 foot N gauge layout and an O scale layout.
Chaney has hopes that this year’s show will beat last years in attendance.
“Last year we probably had 800 people there,” said Chaney.
