PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Thomas J. Zornes, 84, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., formerly of Justice Addition, Logan, died Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Emerald Healthcare in Port St. Lucie.
Born in Huntington, Tommy spent 42 years in Logan before moving to Boiling Springs Lake, N.C. He spent the last two years in Port St. Lucie.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Lee Brewster Zornes; one daughter, Dinah Zornes Cushman of Port St. Lucie; two sons, Thomas M. Zornes of Auroa, Colo., and Hugh J. Zornes of Richmond Hill, Ga. Tommy “Pappy” is survived by nine grandchildren (a 10th grandson Allen Budd, which unfortunately passed before him), and eight great-grandchildren. Local relatives include his sister-in-law, Dora Richardson of Chauncey; brother-in-law, Paul Brewster, also of Chauncey, and many nieces and nephews in the Logan area.
Tommy spent his early years working for the C&O Railroad in West Virginia and raising a family. His ever cheerful, optimistic attitude was contagious and uplifting. His kind and gentle ways have found a place of legacy in the lives of his survivors. He will be sorely missed, yet fondly remembered.
Memorial services were held in Florida.
