MAN — START (Seniors Taking Active Role Today) held their annual picnic held at the shelter at Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church on Thursday, September 27.
Festivities began with prayer by Robert Perry. Buddy Grimmette entertained the group with singing and playing the banjo. Lee Noel accompanied him with the singing of some songs.
The picnic food, everything from hot dogs to hamburgers and chicken and all the trimmings, was catered by Beulah Lusk. For those that saved room, there were plenty of desserts.
START members celebrating a September birthday included Jane Grimmette, Dr. Rallos and Elaine Thompson.
The group seemed to enjoy all the talking, eating, the singing and music, and for no other reason — just being out and having lots of fun. Most all of the members were wearing their new START t-shirts.
The 58 members and guests signing the attendance register were Geraldine Bunch, Lou Arnold, Jean Wintz, Alice Harrison, Merlin and Delores Spears, Winsel and Grace Elliott, Peggy Heatherman, Paul and Donna Thibault, Mayor Jim Blevins, Buddy Grimmette, Dock and Bertha Allen, Shirley and Zettie Brown, Jane Grimmette, Maxine Justice, Robert Perry, Betty Gentry, JoAnne Hensley, Peggy Mosley, Helen Nelson, Norma Jean Nelson, Lenora Moss, Dorothy Altizer, Terry Cline, Frank Combs, Arthur and Barbara Brunty, George and Dottie Doczi, Sherry Frye, Patricia Doczi, Jerry and Nancy Garrett, Laura Hinchman, Patsy Tilley, Elmer and Lounice Jeffrey, Pauline Jeffrey, Bill and Donna McNeely, Gertie Moore, Lee and Billie Noel, Mae Osborne, Barbara Spears, Patty Stowers, Lessie Bailey accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law from North Carolina, Angeline Bassham, Rev.
