SWITZER, W.Va. — Constance Alda Bowne Cook, 91, of Switzer, departed this life Sunday, November 4, 2012, at her residence.
Born February 11, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Webster and Myrtie Ellen Meadows Bowne of Seth. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Carlos Eugene Cook; son-in-law, Charles Keith; three sisters and two brothers.
Alda was active in Girl Scouts for many years, receiving several awards for her faithful duties. She enjoyed doing yard work, scrapbooking, and genealogy. She had been active in church since 1935 when she became a Christian.
Left to cherish her memories are her four children, Charles (Arinda) Cook of Clarksville, Tenn., Nathan (Diana) Cook of Somonauk, Ill., Gail (Andy) Bryant of Caddo, Okla., and Connie Keith of Switzer, with whom she made her home; eight grandchildren, Michael Cook, Dawn Cook, Serenity House, Sarah Cook, Ray Bryant, Randy Bryant, Brian Keith and Stephanie Ward; 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice, Stephanie Hodges and Cecila Thomblin for all their care and help during our time of need.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 9, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Denny Lambert officiating and vocalist Lynn Vance. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
