CHAPMANVILLE — Jody Harless is set to begin as the new Chapmanville Middle School basketball coach.

Harless, a former assistant coach at Chapmanville High School and also Scott, takes over for Bo Berry, who has been moved up to a CRHS assistant coaching position under new head coach Allan Hatcher.

“There have been alot of changes in our program,” Harless said. “I’ve been throwing a lot of new ideas at these guys and they’ve responded well. I’m proud of our work ethic.”

With the new season just around the corner, Harless said the CMS Tigers have a lot of work to do.

“We have a long way to go,” Harless said. “However, if we keep working we are going to get where we need to be. Coach Hatcher and I talk on a daily basis. He has been very involved and helpful with whatever we need. My assistant coach is Wes Adkins, a former player for CHS. He played on the regional runner-up team that lost to eventual state champ Logan when Lou Green played.”

The Chapmanville Middle boys are set to have a preseason scrimmage on Saturday in the CMS Thanksgiving Hoops Fest at the CMS gym.

The CMS roster is comprised of eighth-graders: Chris Bailey, Tyler Moore, Dylan Brown, Hunter Workman, Jeremy Lilly and Kyle Evans; seventh-graders Dylan Smith, Adam Vance, James Ellis, Austin Bledsoe, Austin Hanshaw and Tyler Carter; and sixth-graders Devin Collins, Garrett Richard, Brennan Williams, Braxton Browning, Jacob Adkins, Larry Osborne and Cole Ferrell.
