LAKE, W.Va. — Mrs. Phyllis Fay Herndon Adkins, 72, of Lake, went home to be with her Lord Monday, January 7, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born June 20, 1940, at Stirrat, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Ruth Powers Herndon. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Lonnie Adkins; siblings, Clifton Herndon, William “Bill” Herndon, Gertrude Browning, Roy “Buddy” Herndon, Harold Herndon, and Paul Richard “Dickie” Herndon, and her daughter, Sharon Gayle Adkins.
Mrs. Adkins was retired from Logan Regional Medical Center where she worked for over 20 years. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Joe Herndon, Lonnie “Buddy” Adkins, Brad Adkins, Phillip (Donice) Adkins, Angie (James) Marcum, Lynda (Orville) Moore, and Kathy (Jason) Carpenter with whom she made her home and her caregivers; grandchildren, Johnathan Marcum, Larissa (Tom) Ziegler, Kara Faye (Jamie) Hainer, Leeann (Ronnie) Sheets, Joe Herndon, Kortni (Justin) Nelson, Nikki (Kendall) Fields, Seth Herndon, Jacob Herndon, Chance Barker and Blake Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Thomas, Aiden, Isaac, Johnathan II, and Ashlyn; siblings, Danny (Gene) Herndon, Iva Hatfield, and Betty (William) Ramey; sisters-in-law, Ann, Eva, Collette, Darlene, Connie, Lillie (Louie) Chambers, Myrtle (Woodrow) Chambers and a special friend, Linda Adkins.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 11, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Roscoe Chafin and Rev. Woodrow Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hipshire, Roger Bradley, Jamie Hainer, Justin Nelson, Tom Ziegler and John Browning.
Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Barker, Tony Adkins, Gerald Adkins and Jamie Adkins.
Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.
