CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — James Lee Roberts, 80, of Chapmanville, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 14, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born January 1, 1933, in Madison, he was a son of the late Lonnie and Ruby Hager Roberts. Also preceding him in death was one son, Billy Roberts; one grandson, Christopher Roberts; one sister, Lucille Berry, and five brothers, Jackie, Billy, Leon, Les, and Drexel Roberts.
Jim was a minister in the Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed joking with his friends and family. He also played the guitar and mandolin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Deanna Sanders Roberts; four sons, Kenneth Roberts of Clinton, Tenn., Danny Roberts of Norco, Calif., Larry Roberts of St. Pete, Fla., and Bobbie Collier of Chapmanville; two sisters, Betty Bias of Turtle Creek and Peggy Johnson of Mud River; nine grandchildren, Heather Chase of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Corey Roberts of Riverside, Calif., Brent Roberts of Morehead, Ky., Lucas Miller of Clinton, Tenn., and Nicholas, Nathanael, Austin, Bobby and Keegan Collier, all of Chapmanville; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Landon Chase, both of Murfreesboro, and his first wife and the mother of four sons, Drema Gray.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, January 19, at Freeman Funeral Home with Van Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ken, Dan, Larry, Corey, Matt and Gary.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
