BRAEHOLM, W.Va. — Gertrude Walker Gunnells, 92, of Braeholm, departed this life Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Born January 11, 1921, at John’s Creek, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Odis and Janice Deskins Walker. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Elvis “Shorty” Gunnells; two sons, Foster Gunnells and Bill Gunnells; one daughter, Brenda Williams; one son-in-law, Charles Williams; four granddaughters, Tammy Frye, Mary Williams, Teresa Gunnells and Tonya Gunnells; two step-brothers, James and Wilton Thompson, and a special friend, Harry Toler.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Larry (Gloria) Gunnells of Disputanta, Va., and Jeff (Brandi) Gunnells of Braeholm; one daughter, Linda (Curtis Pauley) Gunnells of Gilbert; daughter-in-law, Hessie Gunnells of Chapmanville; one step-son, Okie (Geraldine) Gunnells of Hanover; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Trinity Healthcare for taking such good care of our mother.
At Gertrude’s request there will be no services and her remains have been cremated.
