ELYRIA, Ohio — Dora Mae Bartley Jeffrey, 89, of Elyria, Ohio, and formerly of Wellington, Ohio, passed away late Monday, March 11, 2013, at New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio.
Born April 8, 1923, in Gallia, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Franklin Bartley and Norma Estel Taylor.
Dora grew up in Logan County and attended schools here. She married Garland Edmond Jeffrey on January 26, 1943, at The Courthouse in Logan. Garland died in August 1975. Over the years, Dora worked at several places in Lorain County including the turnpike restaurants in Amherst, Ohio, Mueller’s Packaging in Oberlin, Ohio, and retired from Forest City Foam Products in Wellington. She enjoyed crafts, yard work and walking.
Survivors include two daughters, Oleta Mae Jeffrey and Betty Loretta Jeffrey, both of Elyria.
Also preceding her in death were her twin sons, Jerry and Curtis, who died shortly after birth; siblings Lizzie Lee Gillispie, Delores Talbert, James Ernest Bartley, George Howard Bartley, Virginia Edith Culbertson, Roy Kurtis Bartley, Flora Mabel Jeffrey (Dora’s twin), Goldie Vivian Weese, and Gertie Arbutus Bartley, and half-sister, Mary Magdalene Damron.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Busch Funeral and Crematory Services of Elyria and, locally, Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, are in charge of arrangements.
