JUSTICE ADDITION, W.Va. — Bob G. Rucker, 84, of Justice Addition, passed on to his heavenly home Saturday morning, April 27, 2013, in Trinity Healthcare Nursing Home at Henlawson.
Born September 10, 1928, in Willard, Ky., he was a son of the late Bert and Captola Smith Rucker. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Harold B. Rucker.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Irene Maynard Rucker; two daughters, Dana (Gary) Bowen of Wilkinson, Beth (Garland) Elmore of Charleston; two grandchildren, Amy Bowen (Mike) Holley of Barboursville and Garland Elmore II of Charleston; two great-grandchildren, Anna and Jacob Holley of Barboursville; sister, Mary Jo Samson of Justice Addition; niece, Karen Samson of Salem, Va.; two nephews, Randy (Joyce) Samson of Switzer and John (Mary Jane) Samson of West Logan and many other friends and loved ones.
Bob joined the Marine Corps upon graduation from Logan High School class of 1946. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America working for Island Creek Coal Company at Holden and for Amherst Coal Company on Buffalo Creek for about 45 years retiring in 1991. Bob and his wife have been faithful members of the Logan Church of the Nazarene for 57 years. He served in various positions: choir member, usher, counter, church board member, church board secretary and trustee.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Logan Church of the Nazarene with the pastor Rev. Larry Cale officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Bowen, Garland Elmore, Garland Elmore II, Mike Holley and John Samson.
The men of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will begin two hours prior to services Wednesday at the church.
James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of arrangements.
