Logan native Jerri Thompson Compton has been named as executive director of the United Way of Northern Kentucky. The organization raises money for 70 non-profit agencies in Boyd, Greenup, Carter, Elliott and Lawrence counties.
Compton graduated from Logan High School and went on to earn a degree in social work from Marshall University and a masters degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University.
Compton has lived and worked at Asland, Ky. for the past 17 years.
As community liason for HomeCare Services at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Compton organized the hospital’s in-house United Way campaign. Her involvment and support of the organization grew as she learned more about its importance in the region led to her interest in the position of executive director.
Compton is the daughter of Jerry and Gale Thompson, of Logan.
