Minutes can make the difference between life and death when patients need access to medical care and ground transport is difficult and time consuming. HealthNet 7/AirMethods KY 9 is announcing the addition of a EC130 helicopter, which will enhance their ability to provide life-saving care for residents of southeastern Kentucky and southwestern West Virginia.
The state-of-the-art EC130 is larger in size, providing increased space for patient care and medical equipment. The new helicopter is also equipped with multiple safety features including wire strike capabilities, autopilot, artificial terrain alert, up-to-the-minute weather reporting and CPS.
The HealthNet 7/AirMethods KY 9 base is located at the Big Sandy Regional Airport in Martin County, Ky. The base staff consists of 18 medical crew members (flight nurses and flight medics), pilots and aircraft mechanics.
The staff of HealthNet 7/AirMethods KY 9 are not only responsible for patient transports, they are also very involved in the areas in which they serve by providing classes to local hospitals and EMS/fire agencies as well as participating in community events.
