HARTS, W.Va. — Mr. Mitchell Edward Adams, 81, of Harts, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born August 20, 1931, at Whirlwind, he was a son of the late Robert and Garnet Mullins Adams.
Mitch served in the US Army, in front line artillery, during the Korean War, worked at Star Tool and Die in Detroit, Mich., and retired from Westmoreland Coal Company. He was the former owner of Smith’s Drive Inn and Fast Eddy’s Carryout. He loved his children, grandchildren, friends and gardening.
Also preceding him in death was his wife of 50 years, Jane Moore Adams; son, Jerry Adams; three grandsons, Joshua and Jeremy Smith and Larry Stollings; three brothers, Larry Gene, Lucian Dee and Billy Adams, and two sisters, Irene Click and Joann Frye.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy (Ancil) Stollings of Harts; three grandchildren, Eddy (Samantha Turner) Adams and Brianna Stollings, both of Harts, and Brandy (Dru) Ellis of Chapmanville; two great-grandchildren, Deborah (Ryan) Vinson and Dillon Lambert; five sisters, Gail Moore and Geraldine Dempsey, both of Harts, Mary Lynn Bazilla of Logan, and Peggy Morris and Loretta Wolfe, both of Ohio; two special brothers-in-law, Nim Moore and Leonard (Joy) Moore, many special nieces, nephews and cousins, especially those that spent time with him, Pam (Ronnie) Pranger, Darlene (Ron) Shelton, Bobby (Angie) Dempsey and Bill (Shelia) Click, and some other very special people in his life, Lysandrous (Patty) Mullins, Paul (Bert) Dalton, Ronnie Kirk, Jerry Messer, Ricky (Linda) Browning, Matt (Paula) Riffe, Roger Browning and Gary Lee Adams.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Ministers Jimmy Carter and Greg Mullins officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at funeral home.
Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.
