ORANGE PARK, Fla. — Phyllis E. Bashaw, 84, of Orange Park, Fla., formerly of Omar, departed this life Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Orange Park Medical Center.
Born February 2, 1929, in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late John Cooper and Josie Gibson Riffe. Also preceding her in death was her husband, William Bashaw; one daughter, Mary M. Jackson, and two sisters, Beatrice Flannery and Arlene Riffe.
Phyllis was a retired manager and a member of the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Christopher (Nancy) Jackson of Simpsonville, S.C.; one daughter, Marcella (Craig) Lewis of Orange Park; one sister, Geneva Adkins of Chauncey, and three grandchildren, John Lewis, Joshua Jackson, and Christopher Lewis.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Blankenship and John Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
