April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month and the Children’s Home Society’s We Can program held several ceremonies in the area in celebration of the month.
Flag raising ceremonies for the official Children’s Memorial Flag were held in Man and Logan on April 1st and Pinwheels for Prevention were placed outside in different locations across Logan County.
The Children’s Memorial Flag Ceremony was held April 26th at the Logan County Courthouse. Several schools, post offices and libraries across the county hung the flag during the month of April and planted flower gardens and placed pinwheels out to show their support.
This year’s ceremony began with Justice Grade Pre-K reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and recited Country Roads using sign language.
Award recipients were WVOW for Community Service; Robin Weiner of Logan Mingo Area Mental Health for Social Services and Katherine Johnson for Volunteer.
