Freedom Festival begins Thursday

July 3, 2013

The WV Freedom Festival will begin Thursday, July 4, and continue until Saturday, July 6, in Downtown Logan.

The event is chucked full of fun-filled family fun, from games and inflatables for kids to motorcycle and car shows. Entertainment includes various bands, a circus show, lip sync contest, dog show and karaoke challenge.

New this year is a themed block party hosted by DJ Bill France. The block party will honor four-year-old Joshua “Gabe” Lyall, the son of Josh and Erina Lyall. Gabe, a “hero” himself and an inspiration for many, has been battling tumors that have invaded his heart, liver and lungs. A biopsy on his liver confirmed the tumors as being stage four hepatoblastoma, which is a rare liver cancer in children. Gabe, a huge superhero fan, has had his story published in a number of Marvel comic books this year. Those attending the block party can dress in a superhero costume.
