CHAPMANVILLE —The Mingo Central High School golf team won their first match of the season recently by topping host Chapmanvillle Regional, Tug Valley and Sherman in a quadrangular meet at the Logan Country Club in Chapmanville.
Mingo Central won with a 172. Chapmanville was a close second — three strokes behind at 175. Tug Valley was a distant third with a 208. Sherman was last place.
The Miners were led in the match by Alex Warden, who fired a 39. Garrett Bevins had a 41, Dakota Rawls a 44, Brennon Sloan a 48, Kyle Surber a 51 and Kyle Hatfield a 62.
Chapmanville was led by medalist Jacob Workman with a 38. Jacob Blevins and Dakota Saunders each had a 45. Austin Evans had a 47 and Casey Vance a 55.
Tug Valley was paced by Calvin Blankenship and Alex Muncy who each had a 51. Chandler Runyon had a 52, Tristan Maynard a 54 and Ethan Mullins a 62.
Sherman got a 43 from Trenton Caruthers, a 46 from Trever Tony and a 49 from Seth Petry.
