The sectional tournaments are set to begin this week for Logan County’s three high school volleyball teams.

Man (20-17-1), coached by Orlando Washington, will play host to the Class A sectional tournament beginning on Tuesday night at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.

The Lady Billies are the No. 2 seed in their five-team section and open on Tuesday at 5 p.m. with a match against No. 3 seed Sherman. No. 4 Montcalm and No. 5 Tug Valley will then play the second match with the winner facing off against No. 1 Greater Beckley Christian.

The tournament is a double-elimination format.

Logan, coached by second-year mentor Chelsey Stowers, also begins sectional tourney play on Tuesday with the Class AAA sectionals at Spring Valley.

Logan is set to open on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Lincoln County in the sectional tourney opener. If Logan wins, the Lady Cats are slated to play right afterwards against host Spring Valley.

Then depending on the results, Logan may play again on Wednesday.

Chapmanville Regional was scheduled to host its five team Class AA sectional beginning on Monday night.

The Lady Tigers are the No. 4 seed. Tolsia is first, Wayne second, Mingo Central third and Scott fifth.

The double elimination tourney began on Monday as Chapmanville played Scott with the winner taking on No. 1 seed Tolsia. Wayne also played Mingo Central in the second match.

“This should be a very interesting section. All the teams are equally matched,” CRHS first-year coach Johnny Williamson said. “Although we are the four seed some of the younger girls have stepped up and due to the fact we are at home I like our chances.”

The 2A tourney continues Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Chapmanville. The first and second place teams will advance to the upcoming regionals which will be held next week at Nicholas County.
