I reside in Pecks Mill with my wife, Melissa and daughter, Ella. I am a member of The Democratic Party and an auxiliary member of The United Mine Workers. I grew up in the Omar area and attended Logan County schools.
I will be filing as a candidate for the House of Delegates in the 24th District. I announced my candidacy for the West Virginia House of Delegates at an Announcement Dinner on Aug. 2nd. The event was emceed by Aaron Stone. After the introductions, I did a power point presentation dealing with unions and Right to Work Legislation. I also addressed issues concerning asset tests and the cycle of poverty that it perpetuates, addictions to substance abuse, and education concerns: truancy and salary rankings for teachers and school service personnel. The main emphasis was to demonstrate how all these issues relate to poverty in southern West Virginia.
Entertainment for the announcement event was provided by the Appalachian Children’s Chorus, under the direction of Lisa Anderson; Recording artist Kaitlin Boytek; Comedian Aaron Stone, and D.J. services provided by David Eplin. Photography was by Boothe Davis. The affair was catered by Granny jacks, and an After Party for guests was held at 317 Steak House.
I am taking a pro-coal stance and promise to accept no money or donations of any kind from corporations. I am in favor of raising the minimum wage and providing West Virginia workers with a living wage. I pledge to promote progressive ideas and programs that emphasize strong Democratic principals and values that will assist the common good and benefit the citizens of West Virginia.
