The Logan High School tennis team both improved their record with wins over Westside on Monday and Class AAA regional opponent Cabell Midland on Tuesday.
In the Logan-Westside girls’ match, Lady Cats’ No. 1 Lauren Chambers was an 8-1 winner over Westside’s Sara Walker.
No. 2 Haley Hatfield defeated Tamara Hatfield 8-0.
Logan No. 3 Morgan Browning was an 8-0 winner over Westside’s Kate Lester.
Then in the No. 4 singles match, Logan’s Hannah Lester was an 8-0 victor over Allison Toler.
In No. 1 doubles, Chambers and Browning of Logan won 8-1 over Walker and Hatfield.
Then in the No. 2, Logan’s Haley Hatfield and Hannah Lester were an 8-0 winner.
The Lady Cats won the No. 3 doubles match by default.
In the Logan-Westside boys’ matchup, the LHS No. 1 doubles team of Keith Williamson and Jacob Adkins was an 8-0 winner over Tanner Evans and Garrett Bailey. Both won in their respective singles matches as well by 8-0 scores.
In the Logan-Cabell Midland girls’ match, the LHS girls won 5-2 over the Knights.
Logan’s Hatfield and Lester won 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles match over Cabell Midland’s Sargent and Estep.
In singles, Logan won all four matches as Chambers (8-2), Hatfield (8-3), Browning (9-8, 7-4 tiebreak) and Lester (8-4) all prevailed.
On the boys’ side, Williamson and Jacob Adkins won 9-8 in a 7-5 tiebreak over Cabell Midland’s Alex Beam and Cullen Myers. Logan also took the No. 2 doubles match by forfeit.
In singles, Jacob Adkins (8-5) and Trevor Adkins (default) took wins.
The Logan tennis teams were slated to host defending state champion Huntington on Wednesday at home. Logan then has a tri-match set for Friday at home against Mingo Central and Belfry, Ky.
On Saturday, LHS is set to travel to the Kanawa City Courts in Charleston to play Point Pleasant and Lincoln County before going on Spring Break next week.
* The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ tennis team improved to 9-1 with recent wins over Scott and Sherman.
The CRHS girls won all seven singles and doubles matches against Sherman by 8-0 scores.
Both the Chapmanville girls and boys teams were slated to see action on Wednesday at Coonskin Park against Parkersburg Catholic.
