The Class AAA No. 9-ranked Logan High School baseball team lost 6-2 at regional rival Cabell Midland on Wednesday night.
The Knights (11-8) plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put away the Wildcats.
Brady Elkins and Cody Ballengee each went 2-for-3 and Derek Adkins doubled to lead Cabell Midland.
Chase Preston and Josh Rein each had a double to lead Logan. Preston was 2-for-3.
The Knights outhit the Cats 6-4. Logan had five errors in the game to three for Cabell Midland, which led 1-0 after one inning, 2-1 after two and 3-2 after three.
Troy Burgess was Logan’s starting pitcher. He was relieved by Will Akers and Jared Shawver in the sixth.
Logan (10-6) is scheduled to return to action with this weekend’s Ed Carter Invitational. On Friday, the Wildcats play host George Washington at 1 p.m. and Winfield at 4 at GW. On Saturday, Logan returns to play in the tourney at St. Albans.
Next Monday, Logan hosts Huntington at 7 and Ripley on April 30 also at 7 p.m. The Cats go to Scott on May 1 and host Winfield on May 2.
