On Thurs., May 1, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department conducted a Knock-and-Talk Operation in the Holden area.
Numerous homes were visited to include residences where suspected drug activity has been occurring as well as the residences of concerned citizens. Sheriff Porter advised that last night’s operation was not a one-time deal.
“We are going to keep visiting communities, talking with concerned citizens and knocking on the doors where suspected drug activity is occurring. The public in general was very receptive to the Sheriff’s department’s presence and assistance during last night’s operation.”
During the operation, two arrests were made.
Sheriff Deputies made the first arrest: Damien Dwayne Adkins, 27 of Holden. A warrant, originating out of Greenbrier Co., was previously on file for Adkins for failure to pay child support. Adkins was arrested, processed and transported to the South Western Regional Jail.
The second arrest of the evening came as deputies, acting on previous information, conducted a knock and talk at the residence of Rachell Bronz.
Deputies observed Bronz standing at the back door of her residence. After approaching Bronz, they obtained consent to search her residence based on previous information. After a brief search, drugs and drug paraphernalia were observed in open view. The residence was secured, and a search warrant was obtained.
Upon executing the search warrant, Deputies located digital scales, baggies of what they identified as crack cocaine, straw and other devices commonly used to snort drugs. They also found plates with powdery substances on them. During the investigation it was learned that Bronz’ two week old child was present and living in the residence.
Bronz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Department will be continuing with the investigation in conjunction with Child Protective Services.
