CHAPMANVILLE — With such a big gap between the Class AA sectional and regional baseball tournaments, the Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team has scheduled a pair of tune-up games.

The Tigers, 26-5 and ranked No. 3 in the state in Class AAA, are scheduled to host Triple-A Point Pleasant on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Chapmanville’s Ted Ellis Field. This Saturday, Chapmanville is slated to host county rival Man at noon.

The big one, of course, is Memorial Day night on May 26 when Chapmanville heads to Wayne to take on the Pioneers in the Class AA regional tournament. Game time is 6 p.m. at Wayne.

Chapmanville hasn’t played since May 12 and 13 when the Tigers beat Scott 5-2 and 8-5, respectively, to win the Class AA sectional championship for the first time in two years.

The Tigers are currently riding a nine-game winning streak going into tonight’s contest with Point Pleasant. The Big Blacks are 17-10 and won their sectional two games to one over Winfield. Point Pleasant wrapped it up with an 11-3 win on May 17 after an 8-6 win and 12-2 loss to the Generals.

Saturday’s opponent, Man, currently has a 16-10 mark. The Hillbillies easily won their Class A sectional and are also waiting for regional play to begin. Man knocked off Tug Valley 12-0 and 14-0 to win its section crown.

Chapmanville is awaiting regional foe Wayne, a team which eliminated the Tigers in the regional semifinals in 2012 following the Tigers’ 35-3 state championship season of 2011. CRHS was ousted by Scott in last year’s sectionals.

The Pioneers advanced with a 10-0 victory over Mingo Central in their sectional final.
