David Lee Hill Jr., 39 of Chauncey, was arrested by the WVSP on June 22 for sexual abuse by parent and display of obscene matter to a minor.

Trooper R.E. Stowers was informed by the victim that Hill, her mother’s boyfriend of approximately one year, had shown her a photograph of his genitalia. The victim further advised Stowers that Hill had attempted to get her to send him inappropriate and obscene Snapchat pictures of herself. Snapchat is a smartphone app that allows users to send pictures to their friends that can be seen between 1-10 seconds before they are deleted.

The victim also stated that Hill would inappropriately smack her on the butt while she would walk by him.

Stowers spoke to Hill, and Hill admitted to showing the victim a picture of his genitalia that was on his cell phone on purpose. He also admitted to attempting to get the victim to send him obscene pictures of herself through Snapchat and to smacking the victim on the butt several times when they were wrestling around.

Hill’s bail was set for $10,000.

• David B. Cupler, 34 of Chapmanville, was arrested on June 2 by the West Virginia State Police for five counts each of fraudulent use of a credit card and fraud in connection with an access device.

On June 2, Cupler stole a Sears Master Card from his father, David C. Cupler, and traveled to Kroger’s Grocery Store located in Logan. $258.69 of goods were charged onto the credit card at Kroger’s.

On the same date, Cupler stole a Walmart credit card from his father and spent 925.15 at the Logan Walmart.

The total amount of goods purchased on the above date came to a total of $1,183.84. Cupler allegedly made four transactions with the credit cards.

Cupler was advised of his Miranda Rights and gave the officer a confession of the above events.

Cupler’s bail is set for $10,000.

• Arthur Cook, 31 of Sarah Ann, was arrested by the Logan County Sheriff Department on June 23 for grand larceny and trespassing.

On June 23, Cook allegedly went to the Stirrat Prep Plant owned by Alpha Natural Resources and took approximately 10 metal grates from mine property without permission. The value of the grates is approximately $2,000.

After taking the grates, Cook allegedly took them to S&S Recycling on Cow Creek and sold them as scrap for approximately $45.

Cook’s bail is set for $1,000.
