Around 5:30 p.m. Wed., September 3, an elderly woman accidentally drove a small vehicle into the United States Post Office in the Holden area. The Holden Post Office is currently still open for business, so customers need not fret.

According to Postmaster Kara Murray, a maintenance team was on site as of Thursday to fix the damage. However, the building is owned by a landlord in Mississippi and they are waiting for further instructions on permenant repairs. Although the USPS is not filing charges, the West Virginia State Police did investigate. The police report had not yet been filed at the time this report was written.

Logan High School student Kyle Holbrook said he was driving his dirtbike by the scene when he saw what had happened.

“They said it was a old woman,” Holbrook said. “When she went to hit the brake, she hit the gas instead.”

Sources tell the Logan Banner that an ambulance did respond to the scene, but the driver of the vehicle was reportedly not injured in the wreck. Her car reportedly received minimal damage in the wreck as well.
