AMHERSTDALE, W.Va. — Treasa Lynn “Tessie” Adkins, 40, of Amherstdale, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 17, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 26, 1968, at Man, she was a daughter of Emogene Hale Adkins of Amherstdale and the late Billy Adkins. Also preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Matt and Annie Hale; uncles, Gordon Hale Sr. and Charles Hale; aunts, Linda Marsh, Shirley Faye Moriarty and Wanda Adkins, and cousins, Angel Hale, James “Bo” Hale, and Gary Matthew Vest.
Tessie was a very active member of the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday school class for 19 years.
Additionally, those left to cherish her memory include a very special aunt and uncle, Vernon “Chubby” and Mary Scites of Stowe, with whom she made her home during her sickness; aunts and uncles, Carl Adkins and Garnet and Debby Marsh, all of Amherstdale, Louise Cormanick, Dora Morin, Eddie Ray Hale, Ronald Hale and Bill Moriarty, all of Ohio, Ann Gibson of Lorado, and Shelia Hale of Florida; a special cousin, Anna Marsh of Amherstdale who Tessie helped rear, and a host of other cousins and friends.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 20, at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Adkins and Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Bailey, Gary Peters, Charlie Marsh, Mark Scites, Gordon Hale Jr., and George Hale.
Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Scites, Garnet Marsh, Chubby Scites and Jay Adkins.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
