LOGAN, W.Va. — Logan Regional Medical Center (LRMC) will host a Go Red for Women® event at the Logan Country Club at Chapmanville on Thursday, February 25.
Go Red for Women® is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women because it’s not just a man’s disease. In fact, more women than men die every year from heart disease and stroke.
The fact is heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year. That’s approximately one woman every minute.
The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health for this very reason.
Go Red for Women® advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease and stroke. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them the tools they need to lead a heart-healthy life.
The event will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, February 25.
Dr. Ashu Dhanjal, MD, a cardiologist at LRMC, will be speaking along with some exercises women can to do have a healthier lifestyle. Entertainment will be provided by Chuck Compton.
