MAN — The August meeting of START (Seniors Taking Active Roles Today) was held August 27, at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church. Green linen tablecloths were adorned with sunflower arrangements with candles in hurricane lamps.
Prior to all the activities, START President Gretchen Donahue welcomed Maxine Justice to the 90’s Hall of Fame of START. Justice was presented a framed certificate to commemorate the occasion of her 90th birthday and given a birthday cake baked by START’s resident baker, Mrs. Zettie Brown.
Along with Justice, others celebrating birthdays in August were Barbara Spears, Pebble Vance, Rev. Randy Sites and Bill McNeely.
Following a delicious lunch, final plans for the September Picnic were discussed. It will be held at the Justin McCoy Memorial Park on Buffalo Creek. Beulah Lusk will cater the picnic and members are asked to bring their own drinks.
Door prizes were awarded following the business meeting.

START will meet for their annual picnic at the Justin McCoy Memorial Park at noon Thurs, Sept. 24.
