The Logan High School Social Studies Department conducted a patriotic assembly on Friday, September 11. The purpose of the meeting was to revive respect and understanding of the flag of the United States of America.
The agenda consisted of First Sargent Harvey of the ROTC Program explaining the importance of flag etiquette, the Logan High School ROTC presented the colors, the LHS Choir Ensemble sang the National Anthem, the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the social studies staff conveying information about each American war and how the flag inspired troop and civilian morale.
The finale of the event was a video clip on the 9/11 tragedy and the soar of patriotism that followed the attack. The social studies staff encouraged a renewal among the student body for flag and country. The students were challenged to do a good deed on Patriotic Day in memory and honor of the brave firemen and policemen and innocence citizens that lost their lives on that infamous day.
A love gift was taken up by the social studies classes that went to assist less fortunate Logan High School student families.
Principal Kelly A. Stanley congratulated the Social Studies Department on the collaboration and effectiveness of the assemblies.
