The Catholic Parishes of St. Francis of Assisi at Logan, St. Edmunds at Man, St. Barbara at Chapmanville, Sacred Heart at Williamson, and Blessed Sacrament at South Charleston, along with other residents, traveled to Philadelphia, Pa., on September 25-28 for the visit of Pope Francis to the United States.
The group left early Friday, September 25, and stopped at Lancaster, Pa., for a visit to the Amish Village. The group was present for the Pope’s address at Independence Hall on Saturday as well as the Papal parade. Those events included a concert hosted by Mark Wahlberg.
On Sunday masses of the faithful gathered for the Papal Mass which was held outdoors on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Father Yesu Golla, Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Logan, along with Father Francis who was visiting from India and Fr. Anthony from Kentucky, took part in the celebration of the Mass by serving the Blessed sacrament to those who were in attendance.
