LOGAN, W.Va. — Members of the Lions Club of Logan made preparations for a very active November during their first meeting this month. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Presbyterian Church on Stratton Street, the club discussed getting ready for a long-time Logan Community event which sees the three service clubs — which have long held friendly rivalries with each other — come together at Thanksgiving.
The Tri-Club Dinner will be held this year at Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church in Logan on Nov. 17. According to Lions President Glen Ables, this year the Lions Club will provide the turkey for the meal, while the Rotary Club of Logan will provide a speaker and the Kiwanis Club of Logan secures the meeting place. The dinner will take place that Tuesday at noon.
The Lions also discussed another upcoming dinner — the WE CAN Celebrity Waiter event — that will be taking place this Thursday. Ables said he had discussed sponsoring a table with the Man Lions Club.
“We have four tickets available for any members interested in attending,” Ables said.
Ables said a zone meeting would be coming up soon on Nov. 9 at Giovanni’s Restaurant in Chapmanville at 7 p.m. All area Lions Club members are urged to attend.
The Lions will also be volunteering to take up collections at the annual Christmas in the Park light event this November and December.
