Holden Pre-K students reveal family turkey recipes

Holden Elementary Pre-K students and teachers dressed up as Indians as they celebrated Thanksgiving at school recently. HOLDEN — The Holden Elementary Pre-K classes is sharing with Logan Banner readers their special recipes on How to Cook a Turkey.

• Ms. Eugenia Adams and Mrs. Angie Brickey’s Pre-K Class

Mollie Barnette — First, my mommy and daddy get a turkey at Walmart. Next, mamaw Debbie cooks the turkey. She puts it in the oven on a pan. She puts butter on it. She cooks it for five hours on 70 degrees in the oven. Then, aunt Amber, dad, mom, Heidi, me, Bob, Ashleigh, Calleigh and mamaw and papaw sit down at the table. Last, we pray before we eat. God is good, God is great and we thank Him for our food. By His hands we shall be fed. Give us Lord our daily bread.

Jessica Basadre — First, daddy gets a turkey at the pet store. Next, he puts syrup on it. He puts it in a pan. He cooks it on top of the stove for 50 minutes cause our oven don’t work. Then, he cuts it up after he cooks it. We eat pancakes with it and trick or treat candy. Last, we can’t sit down at the table and eat. We don’t have chairs either. Daddy threw them out. We have to stand up to eat at the table.

Cole Collins — First, me and mommy and daddy go buy a turkey. We go to Walmart. Next, mommy and daddy cut out the ribs. They wash it and put it on the stove. They put butter inside of it and on top of it. Then, they get out a big turkey pan and they roast it for five hours. They get it out of the oven and get the dressing and we eat it. Last, Justin eats with us. I’m going to invite Holly, Michelle and mamaw Elsie too!

Naomi Godfrey — First, mom gets the turkey at Walmart. Next, papaw David puts it in a bowl and puts sauce on it. He puts it in the oven for five minutes. Then, I put salt on my turkey and marshmallows. We also eat baked beans, grapes, and strawberries. Last, Kylan has to eat baby food this year. Maybe next year he can eat turkey after he gets teeth.

Jenna Goff — First, mommy buys a turkey at Walmart. Next, mommy puts butter on it. And then me and mommy stuffs some food in it (carrots, tomatoes, and lettuce). Then, we put it on a pan in the oven for 30 minutes on warm. Last, I just eat the legs. That’s my favorite.

Jaxton Goins — First, I’m going to go on the hill and get a turkey. I’m going to shoot it with a gun. I’m going to tell Mom to buy me a real one (gun). Next, mommy is going to cook it cause Corey don’t know how. She takes the feathers off. Me help her. Then, she puts in on the stove in a pan and she cooks it for 32 minutes. Last, I eat a hamburger with it. Mom eats pasta noodles with hers and Corey just eats turkey.

Aarib Jehanzeb — First, we don’t eat turkey for Thanksgiving. Next, I like to sit down and eat all kinds of French fries. I like ketchup with them. Then, I drink water.

Bryson Lucas — First, my mommy buys a turkey from the Dollar Tree. Next, my mommy fixes the turkey. She puts brown stuff on it and then she puts it in the oven and bakes it for 12 minutes. Then, she cuts half of it and we eat it. We also have carrots on the side and pizza on the side. She puts milk in our cup to drink. Last, my mamaw Debbie, mamaw Von, Savannah, Natalie, mom and dad and me spend Thanksgiving together.

Savannah Lucas — First, dad gets the turkey in the woods. Next, mom takes the feathers off. She takes a sharp knife and cuts it. Then, she puts it in the oven. She turns it on hot and cooks it for six hours. Last, I put cinnamon on my turkey. I eat dinner with mamaw Von, mamaw Debbie, mom, dad, Natalie, and Bryson.

Ja’Kyra Myers — First, mommy gets the turkey at the Dollar Store. Next, mamaw puts it on a pan and puts it in the microwave for 30 minutes. Then, we eat corn, cornbread, and green beans with the turkey. Last, mamaw, mommy, bubby, and sissy eat with me.

Jayden Nelson — First, mommy gets a turkey at the store. Next, mommy and daddy burn the turkey in a pot. All night and get it really burnt. Then, they rip it apart. And put peas and broccoli around it. I like it. Last, we are supposed to eat it.

Julianna O’Neal — First, my daddy goes to the barn and gets the turkey. I don’t know where the barn is because I never went with him. Next, daddy takes the feathers off. He puts barbecue sauce on it and hot sauce too. He puts it in the oven for five or six minutes on a pan. He cooks it at 8 degrees. Then, I love ketchup on mine. We also eat chicken, carrots, grapes and strawberries. Last, Nana, Papa, Papaw, Grammy, Mom, Dad, and Lawson eat with me. You (Ms. Adams) can come too. Even Ms. Angie.

Ashton Sheppard — First, actually, we don’t eat turkey. Next, I eat good food stuff. Sausage, eggs, and bread. Then, I don’t eat turkey.

Brayden Tomblin — First, dad buys the turkey at Walmart. Next, mom cuts it up. Then, she fries it on the stove in a bowl for one day. Last, we eat it. Mom, dad, and me.

• Mrs. Stephanie Gollihue and Mrs. Cora Perry’s Pre-K Class

Bentley Meade — First, papaw gets the turkey on the mountain. Next, mamaw fixes the turkey in a pot for six minutes. Then, she only cooks eggs and that’s all. Last, we eat our turkey at home with daddy.

Mia Darby — First, mommy gets my turkey at Walmart. Next, mommy cooks the turkey in a pan in the microwave for one minute. Then, she makes mac and cheese and that’s all. Last, we eat at the table in the kitchen.

Juliet Reeves — First, mom buys my turkey at Walmart. Next, mommy cooks the turkey in a pot in the microwave for seven minutes. Then, she makes the turkey with chicken and strawberries. Last, we eat at the table with daddy and Josh.

Levi Abraham — First, mom and dad get the turkey at the store. Next, she puts it in the oven and cooks it for one hour. Then, she cooks French fries and macaroni with it. Last, we eat it at McDonalds.

Daxton Boyd — First, mommy gets a turkey at Walmart. Next, she cooks it in the microwave for 30 minutes. Then, she makes hot dogs with my turkey. Last, we eat at my house.

Skyler Evans — First, Justin buys my turkey at Walmart. Next, Justin and mommy cuts it in half and cooks it on the stove in a skillet. It takes a long time. Then, they make green beans, corn, ham, bologna and cake. Last, we eat it at Justin’s house.

Kaylee Conley — First, mamaw gets our turkey at Walmart. Next, me and mamaw puts butter on top of it and put stuff inside. We put it in the pan in the oven and cook it for 4 minutes. Then, we eat mac and cheese with it. Last, we eat at mamaw’s house in the living room.

Brooklyn Williams — First, mommy and daddy gets my turkey from the zoo. Next, mommy cooks it in the oven in a big pot for a long time. Then, she makes us gravy and scrambled eggs. Last, we have a picnic with our turkey at my house.

Bryson Estep — First, mommy buys our turkey at Walmart. Next, me, mommy and daddy cook it with a grill in the oven. You close the lid down and turn it in five minutes. Then, we eat chicken legs and everything with it. Last, we eat at my house.

Jaden Grimmette — First, mommy gets our turkey at Walmart. Next, the big people cooks the turkey on the stove for eight minutes because it was froze. Then, we eat corn dogs and all kinds of animal meat. Last, we eat at my house.

Laura Lambert — First, daddy buys my turkey at Walmart. Next, mommy takes some blue strings for the turkey. She puts it in a pot and puts it in the stove for three minutes. Then, she makes us chicken nuggets and that’s it. Last, we all go to Pizza Hut to eat our turkey.

Kylie Bradley — First, mommy and daddy buy our turkey at Walmart. Next, mommy and daddy cooks it in a glass pan in the oven for five minutes. Then, she makes macaroni with the turkey. Last, I eat my turkey with a fork at home.

Robert Beddow — First, mom and dad gets my turkey at the turkey store. Next, mom puts it in the oven in a bowl for five minutes. Then, she makes macaroni and bacon. Last, we eat it on a plate with a fork at grammy, poppy, mommy and daddy’s house.

Emmitt Roberts — First, mommy buys the turkey at the house. Next, mommy puts the turkey in a bowl and pokes it. Then, she only makes mac and cheese. Last, mommy puts it on the table and I eat my turkey at school.

Luke Meade — First, mommy and daddy go to Walmart to get my turkey. Next, daddy cooks it in a pot for five minutes. Then, we eat it with a spoon, pop, and everything. Last, we eat at home and mamaw’s house.
