MAN, W.Va. — START (Seniors Taking Active Roles Today) held their traditional Thanksgiving Dinner for the November meeting at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church. Candles in hurricane lamps were seated in flower rings of fall flowers on the tables. Each table was adorned with a sunflower decoration. The food table was presided over by wooden “Mr. & Mrs. Pilgrim” and cornucopias.
Celebrating birthdays in November were Betty Gentry, Arthur Brunty, Barbara Brunty, Elizabeth Tackett, Gretchen Donahue and JoAnne Hensley.
Chad Story, District Representative for Congressman Evan Jenkins was a guest. He invited members and all residents of Triadelphia District to visit the mobile office with their concerns or questions. He informed those present that the portion of Route 10 to Rum Creek is on track to be opened in 2016, with the final portion opening in 2017.
“Twas the Night before Thanksgiving”, and ‘The Turkey Popped Out of the Oven’ were poems read by Gretchen Donahue.
The Lions Club of Man invited START to participate in the Lee Noel Memorial Christmas Caroling to be held Thursday, December 17 beginning at 5 p.m. Following the caroling, folks are invited to the Man Church of God for soup and hot chocolate.
Elizabeth Tackett, member of the Man Lions Club, also announced that the toy giveaway sponsored by local fire departments and the Lions Club would be held December 19. Children in the Buffalo Creek, Huff Creek, and Madison Creek area will receive toys.
Plans for the December meeting were made with members contacting local businesses for donated door prizes and members were reminded to bring socks for the local nursing home.

The Christmas Party will be held Thursday, December 17 at noon at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church. Dixie and Robert Frazier will give a musical program. Anyone in the Man area is welcome to join for food and fellowship.
