LOGAN, W.Va. — Students at Omar and Holden Elementary turned to rock and roll for their annual Christmas programs. Each school presented “A Rockin’ Christmas” featuring upbeat holiday song and dance numbers.
On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, the pre-kindergarten class at Omar Elementary started off the program with its version of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The student-led event featured soloists Braxton Kelly (kindergarten), Kane Davis (kindergarten), Lacey Brewer (first grade), and Kylie Wolfe (first grade). Featured dancers were Jeremiah Beckner (second grade) and Cross Conn (second grade).
Holden Elementary’s program was held Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Coalfield Jamboree theatre in downtown Logan. Featured soloists and dancers for kindergarten through second grades included: Mason Bryant (kindergarten), Damontae Coats (kindergarten), Kira Starkey (first grade), Gabriella Thompson (first grade), Parker Justice (second grade), and Olivia Jackson (second grade).
The third and fourth grade classes from both schools showcased acting and singing talents in their presentations of “Elfis and the Frozen Princess.” The short play told the story of Princess Siberianna who casts a freezing spell on Princess Snowella of Frozonia which she thinks the king and queen did not invite her to the Snowflake Festival. Luckily, the rock and roll icon Elfis is there to help melt Princess Siberianna’s heart, so she will break the spell and they can all “Rock It Royally.”
The cast of “Elfis and the Frozen Princess” from Omar Elementary featured: Luke Johnson (Elfis), Kaleb McCloud (King), Kiera Rorie (Queen), Sydnee Ward (Princess Snowella), Kayleigh Paynter (Princess Siberianna), Emma Watkins (Princess Frostina), Kaydence Goldie (Princess Snowfia), Jacod Adair (Mayor), and Aaron Meunich (Herald).
