France awarded EQT scholarship

Corey France, center, was presented the EQT Students of Excellence Scholarship by Charlene Petrelli of EQT, and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.


CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Corey Peyton France, son of Freddie and Kimberly France of Logan, was presented with the EQT Students of Excellence Scholarship on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the West Virginia State Capitol Rotunda.

The Welcome and Program Overview was given by Dan Thorn of WOWK-TV. Ann Ali, of The State Journal, gave the opening remarks and EQT video presentation.

Scholarships were presented to the students by Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. and Charlene Petrelli of EQT.

France is a senior at Logan High School. He is the Beta Club President, National Honor Society Secretary, Homeroom President, member of the Student Council, Spanish Club, Academic Challenge Winner, and Math Field Day participant.

France attended the Governor’s Honors Academy at Fairmont State University, was honored as a Ronald Reagan Student Leader, and a U.S. Department of Justice Ambassador for Justice.
