MAN, W.Va. — The December meeting of START (Seniors Taking Active Roles Today) was held at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church on December 17, 2015. The atmosphere was festive with white tablecloths, vases filled with silver and blue assorted ornaments, pillar candles and silver ribbon. Socks for the local nursing home were placed under the tradition decorated Christmas tree.
The food table was presided over by a three-foot arrangement of white twigs and lights. Keeping with the party theme, food at the luncheon consisted to fingers foods of all kinds. All in attendance agreed the food was delicious and great fun.
Rev. Randy Sites gave the blessing for the food and lunch was enjoyed. Dixie and Bob Frazier helped “make the Season bright” by performing a concert of Christmas music.
Following a brief meeting of reading the minutes by Barbara Brunty, and treasurer’s report by Alice Harrison, the fun part of awarding door prizes began. Local businesses were very generous in providing gifts to be given to START attendees as door prizes. Those providing gifts were: Uncle Sam’s Loans; Antique Junkshun; Buffalo Foodland; Ellis Supply; Elliott’s Custom Graphics; Man Pharmacy; M&J Jewelers; Pic Pac (two prizes); Keith’s; McNeely’s; Colonial Room Restaurant; Mac’s Auto Parts; Man Clothing; Towne Pharmacy; Mac’s Service Center; Gino’s; a secret donation; Dairy Delight; Guyan Flower Shop; Fire Pit (two prizes); Cliff Side Restaurant; Heads Up Hair Salon; and Southern West Virginia Community & Technical College (two prizes),

START will be meeting Thursday, January 28, at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church in South Man. Seniors are invited to come.
