MAN, W.Va. — START (Seniors Taking Active Roles Today) held their February meeting at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church Thursday, February 25, 2016. Leprechauns with shamrocks and silver streamers in their hats resided on each of the tables covered in green clothes. Placemats of yellow and green were sprinkled with shamrock confetti.
Rev. Randy Sites gave the blessing for the food and lunch was enjoyed. Those celebrating February and January birthdays were recognized. They were Lou Arnold, Elmer Jeffery and Ethel Morgan.
The scheduled speaker for the meeting, Peni Adams, from the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office, was unable to attend due to the snowy weather.
Minutes of the December meeting (January meeting was cancelled due to snow) were read and there was no treasurer’s report. Elizabeth Tackett, Library Director of Buffalo Creek Memorial Library, announced a meeting to be held at the library on March 8, concerning gardening.
President Gretchen Donahue announced that at the next START meeting on March 17, free eye screenings will be available to every one immediately following the meeting. WVU Eye Institute and the Larry Joe Harless Community Center sponsors this service. These exams will be available until the last person is seen.

START will also be meeting Thursday, April 28, at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church in South Man.
