MAN, W.Va. — June 23rd was the date of the meeting of START (Seniors Taking Active Rolls Today) held at Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church. White table covers were the setting for miniature firework table decorations and red/blue place mats. Strings of stars cascaded from the ceiling.
Guests were welcomed, the blessing was given and guests led members to the buffet.
Members celebrating June birthdays were Gertie Moore and William T. Coyer.
Rev. Randy Sites and Judy Sites were recognized. Randy and Judy are retiring and moving back to their home in Huntington. They were thanked for their contributions to the START group and wished well in their future.
Minutes of the June meeting were read and a treasurer’s report was given. During the meeting of guests, Larry Peters was volunteered to present a musical program at the next START meeting. He good-naturedly agreed.
Announcements of activities in the area were discussed. It was announced that there would be a Block Party on Bridge Street for the 4th of July, and all were invited.
