MAN, W.Va. — Buffalo Creek Memorial Library hosted a MoonGazers event on July 11 where participants observed the Moon with a telescope and identified lunar features.
A $3000 grant from the Governor’s West Virginia STEM Initiative supported the MoonGazers event. The grant was awarded to Man Middle School teacher Debbie Denise Reese, Ph.D., as a Man Middle School, Buffalo Creek Memorial Library, and Wheeling Jesuit University partnership to support science achievement in the Man community.
Weather permitting, MoonGazers will offer a second event on August 9 (rain/cloud date August 10). Sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. and last one to two hours. Bring a mobile phone that takes snapshots and an old picnic blanket (for sitting in the parking lot around your telescope).
Space is limited. All participants must pre-register through the library by calling 304-583-
