LOGAN, W.Va. — Logan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary held their annual scholarship awards luncheon and installation of officers for 2016-2017 on Saturday, June 25, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Fellowship hall.
Auxiliary President Pat Joe White opened the meeting with introduction of special guests Kevin Zachary, CEO of Logan Regional Medical Center (LRMC); Jessica Martin, Human Resources Director of LRMC and Anitra Ellis, Instructor of Nursing at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (SWVCTC), along with scholarship recipients and new members of auxiliary. This was followed with Margaret Shriver leading the group in the Auxiliary Prayer.
A luncheon, catered by the Colonel Room at Man, was served following prayer by Mary Casey.
Scholarship committee members Alice Cheek, Pauline Fortune and Pat Joe White awarded an RN scholarship to Robert Fields to SWVCTC and LPN scholarships to Brianna Wright and Bernie Brumfield to Ralph R. Willis Career and Technical Center (RRWCTC).
The awards were presented by Pauline Fortune.
President White made several announcements which included a Nurse Recognition Program known as the Daisy Program which will begin in July at the hospital. He also made announcements concerning the working schedules of the auxiliary and other pertinent information including the auxiliary’s main goal for the use of money earned by the hard work of the auxilians is to furnish scholarships for Logan County students attending college in the medical field and also to furnish wigs to Logan County cancer patients along with other projects for patients at LRMC. White introduced and welcomed three new members of the auxiliary — Shirley McClure, Violet Spence and Joan Thompson.
Birthdays for July, August and September were recognized and were given a token gift. Those celebrating birthdays were Pat Vance Baldwin, Lotus Martin, Mary Beth Ferrell, Mary Casey, Pauline Fortune, Edna Napier and Dawana Clemens.
White announced that he had invited Mr. Zachary to install officers of the auxiliary for 2016-2017 today but asked Mr. Zachary to say a few words to the members. Mr. Zachary thanked the members for their work at the hospital. He also discussed his personal family, project on the wall in front of the Kruger building, parking spaces for the auxiliary, paving parking lots, Wound Care Center, and also congratulated the scholarship recipients.
As Mr. Zachary installed each officer, they were presented with a gift from LRMC by Jessica Martin. Officers installed were President — Pat Joe White; 1st Vice President — Nancy Craft (absent due to illness); 2nd Vice President — Barbara Meade; Secretary — Margaret Shriver; Treasurer — Midge Cox, and Co-Treasurer — Pauline Fortune.
White expressed his appreciation to Mr. Zachary for installing the officers and for many things the hospital has provided. LRMC includes auxilians when they present employees with special gifts; a free meal when the auxilians work a shift; a new auxiliary office; improvements made to the auxiliary snack storage room and improvements made to the auxiliary gift shop.

The meeting was adjourned following Barbara Meade leading the group in reading the auxiliary pledge.
