GFWC members attend conference

Five members from area Woman Clubs attended a summer conference at Canaan Valley Resort in August. During the West Virginia Proud Dinner, the women decorated their table with the them Hatfield McCoy Trails using toy four-wheelers, kayaks, dirt, trees and water. LOGAN, W.Va. — Five members from the Logan and Omar Woman’s Club attended the General Federation of Woman Club’s 43rd Summer Conference held August 5-7 at Canaan Valley Resort at Davis. Logan member Teresa McNeely, Kathy Bryant and Sandy Mayo, and Omar members Janet Endicott and Terri Diamond, were among the approximately 100 women from across the state who attended the meeting.

The conference included workshops on Domestic Violence, Advocating for children, International Outreach, Conservation, HOBY, Pearl S. Buck and the General Federation of Woman Club President’s special project — Feed the Future. There were also workshops on public issues, reporting by club presidents, a chairman meeting, scholarship board meeting and a presidents meeting. Other events included Arts, home life and contests.

The conference concluded with a West Virginia Proud Dinner and Chinese Auction. Each club attending decorated their table with a West Virginia Theme. The team from Logan County used toy four-wheelers, kayaks, dirt, trees and water for the theme “Hatfield McCoy Trails.”
