The Logan Rotary Club, in association with the Southern West Virginia Community College Foundation, awarded David Anderson with a $1,000 scholarship at its July 15 meeting.
For over 20 years, the scholarship has been given out by the Rotary Club of Logan to a Logan High School (LHS) student who plans to attend Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College at Verdunville. The Rotary awards the scholarship each year to a senior graduating from LHS who has shown marked community and civic involvement as well as leadership while they were at LHS.
President of the Logan Rotary Club, Lola Lackey explained Anderson’s selection for the scholarship by saying, “David is a very good student…We are honored to be able to present him with a scholarship.”
While at LHS, Anderson, boasted membership in the national honor society, involved himself in the yearbook committee and theater and graduated in the top 10th percentile of his class. Anderson is currently employed at WVOW Radio and actively participates at his church, the West Logan Church of God.
At the meeting of the Logan Rotary where he was awarded the scholarship, Anderson said, “I’m very thankful to the Rotary Club and the Southern West Virginia Community College Foundation for selecting me as the recipient of the scholarship. It will help me tremendously while pursuing my education.
Meetings of the Logan Rotary Club are held every Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the 317 Steakhouse in downtown Logan. Anyone seeking more information about the Logan Rotary Club can visit www.loganwvrotary.com.
