LOGAN – William Douglas Witten will be sworn in as the newest judge in the Seventh Judicial Circuit (Logan County) at 1 p.m. Friday, July 31, in the courtroom of the Logan County Courthouse, 300 Stratton St., Logan.
Witten was appointed by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin on July 10 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Roger L. Perry on June 30.
He is a graduate of West Virginia University and West Virginia University College of Law and began his legal career in 1969. He served as the assistant prosecuting attorney of Logan County and as a partner in Damron, Parks & Witten from 1970 to 1975. In 1976, he established Avis & Witten, later Avis, Witten & Wandling.
Witten is active in the Boy Scouts of America and is the past campaign chairman and president of the Logan County United Fund.
