LOGAN, W.Va. — State Senator Richard Ojeda will reportedly announce his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday May 11 at 5 p.m on Midelburg Island in Logan.

An reported aid and advisor to Ojeda, Chris Stratton, contacted the Logan Banner saying Ojeda would make the announcement.

A Democrat, Ojeda reportedly seeks to fill the seat being left vacant by Republican Evan Jenkins — West Virginia’s Third Congressional District.

Ojeda will be the second Logan Countian to enter the race for the seat: Delegate Rupie Phillips made an announcement he would run for the Republican nomination for the third district seat during the afternoon of May 11.

Jenkins recently declared he would challenge U.S. Senator Joe Manchin for his position in the states’ federal delegation.
