Music at Arts & Crafts Fair

The 40th Annual Logan County Arts and Crafts Fair will begin Friday Aug. 7 at 3 p.m., and it will run through Saturday evening.

Aside from being a showing of artisanal creations, the event will feature a plethora of activities including a five kilometer road run, an ATV/UTV “poker run,” a “Logan’s Got Talent” talent show, and live music on both days.

Daniel Johnson, local musician and member of the group Leadership Logan, curated the live music that will be featured at the event Friday. At 5:30 p.m. outdoor music will kick off at the Arts and Crafts Fair with the Mingo County act, A Mile From Nowhere. The Horse Traders, a Huntington-based group, will take the stage following A Mile From Nowhere and Mountain Stage alum and Eastern Kentucky native Tyler Childers will be the headlining act.

Information posted to A Mile From Nowhere’s website describes the band by saying, “Hailing from the coalfields of West Virginia, A Mile to Nowhere is a different breed of band. A mix of honest country, unyielding rock and roll and pop sensibility, the band is hard to define.”

The Horse Trader’s website describes their music by saying, “Their music is roots-based rock & roll with soul and country influence. They love the music of Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, Texas, and Muscle Shoals…”

Tyler Childers’ website explains, “Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky is a little town called, Paintsville, where the economy is dependent on the dying coal industry and a tradition of music thrives with the US 23 Country Music Highway Museum and Butcher Hollow. Carrying on the music tradition is native son and current Lexington, Kentucky resident, Tyler Childers.”

Local groups The Street Players Band and Coal Fired are also set to preform at the Arts and Crafts Fair.
