The long-vacant parking building on Main Street in downtown Logan will soon reopen to daily and monthly customers. The building houses 142 parking spaces that downtown Logan sorely needs.
On April 29, 2015, The Logan Banner reported the parking building had sold for $12,000 to Belcher Development, LLC. Richie Belcher, of Delbarton, is the owner and president of the corporation that functions as a mining supply company. Belcher is also a consultant for a company called Wright Concreting that works in the mining industry in specialty concrete applications.
At the time, Belcher stated, “I’m in Logan a lot, and one of the big problems I see in Logan is finding a place to park. I looked at the building and learned what it need, and it falls in with the work I do in the coal industry. So I thought we can blend the two and maybe we can acquire this [building]…and open it back up for the city.”
Over the last few months, Belcher’s company has been performing the necessary repairs and maintenance to the parking building. Several new systems have also been installed: a security system that covers the entrance and exit as well as each floor is now in place and a fully automated teller machine will allow customers use the parking building 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Belcher hopes to have the parking building operational by September first.
Belcher explained customers who park daily will be charged a flat fee of three dollars and monthly parking rates will vary from $40 to $60 depending on the level on which you park.
“The city of Logan has been great to work with. From the mayor to everyday citizens, it’s such a great town to be a part of,” added Belcher. Anyone with questions about the new parking building can call 304-752-3630.
