The Apple Butter Festival in Chapmanville, W.Va. will kick off next week. Festivities will begin Thursday Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. and last through the evening of Saturday Sept. 26.
Aside from plenty of apple butter, a number of food and craft vendors will be available as well as informational booths from local hospitals and organizations. Several vendors will also have boutique and custom items available. Carnival rides will be available throughout the weekend.
Thursday evening the Apple Butter Festival will begin with a host of bluegrass and gospel music groups from throughout the area. Local child prodigy and music sensation Liam Farley will perform along with the Mystery Mountain Boys and several other local gospel groups.
Friday, the festival will host performances from the Dewey Jeffrey Band and the Daddy Rabbit Band. A bloc party hosted by D.J. Bill France will be staged Friday after the Logan High School and Chapmanville Regional High School football game.
The Apple Butter Festival will start Saturday at 10 a.m.. On Saturday’s agenda are a baking contest, karaoke, pet show, lip sync contest and music. Entrants for the baking contest can enter the contest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and should be sure apples are the star of their dish. The musical acts featured Saturday will be One Horse Town, Coal Fired and headliner Cody Wickline.
Event coordinator the town of Chapmanville Miranda Adkins Hunter added, “We encourage everyone from the area to come out and enjoy the Apple Butter Festival.”
