Normal county business was handled by the Logan County Commission at their bi-monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 21.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer, the Commission approved the minutes from the minutes from the last meeting, approved the exonerations of erroneous assessments and ruled on the estates.
Several things on the agenda were tabled due to those scheduled to appear were absent and the presentation on the Town of Man Annexation was tabled as per the recommendation of Commission Counsel Brian Abraham. Abraham cited the need for more information before proceeding on the matter.
A request for $1,000 to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Norman R. Miller Chapter 308 for their Stand Down For Homeless Veterans was approved.
The Verdunville Volunteer Fire Department requested the amounts of $3,857.32 and $7,038 for grant writing fees on recently awarded grants to the department by FEMA. Logan County Administrator Rocky Adkins the commission has supplied grant writing fees to other fire departments. The request was approved.
A request from the Housing Authority of Mingo County (HAMC) for $10,000 to replace a drain at the Switzer Apartment Complex was also approved.
In a letter to the commission, the HAMC stated that they had recently begun work on the Switzer Apartment Complex which will replace the old Julia Apartment complex which is now dilapidated. HAMC is investing more than $3.8 million in the complex project.
In the department reports, the Dog Pound reported no dogs euthanized.
The next commission meeting will be Mon., Oct. 5, at 3 p.m.
