Staff Report

LOGAN, W.Va. — Get ready for a heart-pounding experience that will take place under cover of darkness this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 10, as the Logan Mingo Area Mental Health Buddy Pack Program presents its first evening Haunted Run/Walk at Chief Logan State Park. Whether carrying lanterns, glow-sticks or flashlights, participants in this event will walk or run along the paved roadway through the spooky woods at the park from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. as they enjoy the thrills and chills of the Halloween season.

Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to come, register and wear their most elaborate get-ups for the occasion. Besides being an athletic challenge for all levels of participants, there will also be a costume contest with prizes awarded. The evening will be filled with fun for the whole family, promising a visual feast for the eyes—with creepy monsters, super-heroes, popular cartoon characters, gross zombies and more.

Registration fees for the LMAMH Haunted Run/Walk will go to support the LMAMH Buddy Pack Program that directly feeds children in Logan and Mingo Counties. The Buddy Pack Program works in conjunction with the organization’s Intellectually Developmentally Disabled (ID/D) and the A.C.E.S. Customized Employment Program to provide weekend meals for select school-age children. The program distributes food at various school locations in Logan and Mingo Counties providing nourishing meals to children who are considered food insecure or at-risk of going hungry during the weekend.

Preregistration for the event will cost $20, and anyone looking to preregister for the event can contact Tammy Bowling at 304-310-2508. Participants can also register for $25 on Oct. 10; everyone who registers for the event will receive an official T-shirt in recognition of their participation.

For additional information on the Oct. 10 Haunted Run/Walk or to donate to Buddy Pack program contact Tammy Bowling or Sandra Vance at LMAMH, P.O. Box 176, Logan, WV 25601 or call 304-792-7130. All donations are tax deductible.
