At 10 p.m., on June 5 the Relay for Life fell silent as the “luminaria” ceremony began where the entirety of the track around the Logan High School football field was lined with paper bags illuminated with candles and the word “hope” was spelled across the bleachers.
Teams who participate in Relay For Life engage in fundraising activities to reach a total goal of $35,000 for all teams. To raise additional funds for cancer research, many teams sell concessions and other items at the event. “Everything that you buy at Relay for Life goes to Relay for Life. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to research for cancer,” Crystal Bryant, experience leader for Relay for Life of Logan County, stated.
During the luminaria at the Relay For Life, hundreds of candle bags with personalized messages about survivors, caregivers and those who have passed were lit.
Relay for Life was held Fri., June 6, at the Logan High School football field.
